Hair transplant with PRP: how plasma treatments improve the results

PRP stands for "platelet-rich plasma". The treatment uses components of your own blood to support healing and possibly also hair growth. PRP can be a complementary option especially for patients who want to create the best possible conditions for a good result after a hair transplant. Important, however: PRP does not replace a careful diagnosis, good surgical planning or a professionally performed hair transplant. The scientific results are promising overall, but not completely consistent. The quality of the treatment depends, among other things, on how the plasma is prepared, the injection technique, the individual type of hair loss and the treatment schedule used.

Veneers abroad: costs, materials and the path to a new smile

A beautiful smile can noticeably influence how you feel and how you come across. Veneers offer the possibility of changing the shape, colour and small misalignments of the visible front teeth. They are not, however, an automatic solution for every aesthetic dental problem. Before treatment, caries, gum disease, misalignment, tooth substance and teeth grinding have to be carefully clarified. For patients from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, Croatia and Slovenia can be interesting destinations for aesthetic dental treatment. The cost of veneers is often below prices in German-speaking countries, but should always be considered together with the quality of the material, the planning, the dental laboratory, aftercare and possible travel costs.

Breast surgery: figures, trends and quality criteria — why Croatia and Slovenia are the best choice for patients from German-speaking countries

The decision to have breast surgery is one of the most significant and most personal a woman can make. Whether it is breast augmentation, a breast lift, breast reduction or breast reconstruction — these procedures change not only the silhouette but also self-confidence and quality of life. But the high costs in Germany and Austria are an insurmountable hurdle for many women. More and more patients from German-speaking countries are discovering Croatia and Slovenia as ideal destinations for cosmetic surgery. These countries offer not only first-class medical quality but also price advantages of 40–60% compared with Germany and Austria (prices further down in the blog).

Lens surgery instead of glasses: refractive lens exchange in Croatia and Slovenia

Many people want greater independence from glasses or contact lenses in later life too. Where presbyopia, short-sightedness or long-sightedness come together, laser treatment is not always the right solution. In such cases a refractive lens exchange, also called clear lens extraction or refractive lens exchange, can be an option. In this procedure the natural lens of the eye is removed and replaced by an artificial intraocular lens. Technically the procedure resembles cataract surgery, but it can also be carried out where there is not yet pronounced clouding of the lens. Heidelberg University Hospital describes refractive lens replacement particularly for people with a strong refractive error or beginning presbyopia for whom other procedures are not suitable. For patients from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, specialised eye clinics in Croatia and Slovenia offer consultation, biometry and various lens models. Our partner clinics in Zagreb carry out refractive lens implantation as day surgery.

Having crowns, bridges and dentures made in Croatia and Slovenia

Dental prosthetics abroad can be an interesting way for patients from Germany, Austria and Switzerland to combine high-quality prosthetic treatment with personal support and lower costs. With several crowns, bridges or a comprehensive rehabilitation in particular, prices in German-speaking countries can add up considerably. At the same time the decision should never depend on price alone. Important criteria are the qualification of the dentist, the quality of the dental laboratory, the materials used, digital planning, the number of treatment appointments and aftercare once you are home. GO Medics helps patients compare suitable clinics in Croatia and Slovenia, organise the treatment and coordinate communication with the practitioners.

Glaucoma treatment abroad: glaucoma in Croatia and Slovenia

Glaucoma is one of the common eye diseases in Europe. It can damage the optic nerve progressively and run for a long time without clear symptoms. That makes regular screening especially important: glaucoma screening should be offered from the age of 40; from 50 the frequency rises further. For patients from Germany, Austria and Switzerland, a specialised examination in Zagreb can be an interesting option where comprehensive diagnostics or a second specialist opinion are needed at short notice. Partner clinics such as Bilić Vision offer examinations with intraocular pressure measurement, visual field testing and OCT. An examination abroad does not, however, automatically replace long-term care by an ophthalmologist where you live.

What does cosmetic surgery cost in Croatia and Slovenia? Prices, services and important criteria for patients from German-speaking countries

Cosmetic surgery in Croatia or Slovenia can be financially attractive for patients from Germany, Austria and Switzerland. For many procedures the prices are below the level of many clinics in German-speaking countries. What is decisive, however, is not the lowest price alone but the whole package: the specialist, the anaesthetic, the clinic stay, implants, aftercare and possible extra costs. A cheap offer is only really cheap if all the important services are listed transparently. An apparently low entry price can rise considerably if preliminary examinations, the anaesthetic, implants, overnight stays or check-ups are charged on top.

Dental tourism: when treatment and travel come together

Dental tourism is an interesting way for many patients to combine high-quality dental treatment with a stay abroad. Especially when extensive treatments such as implants, crowns or a complete restoration are due, the difference in cost compared with the home country can be considerable. At the same time, many patients combine the treatment with a short holiday, which makes the stay more pleasant and reduces the perceived effort. In Europe, countries such as Hungary, Turkey and Croatia are among the best-known destinations for dental travel. While Hungary has been a classic dental tourism destination for years, Croatia is increasingly coming to the fore because modern clinics, patient-friendly processes and attractive holiday options come together there.
